Spring has sprung in the Smoky Mountains! Watch Spring flowers, trees, and wildlife come to life, ready to entertain you! Speaking of entertainment, there are lots of opportunities to be entertained by Smoky Mountain events this Spring.
I’m resuming my posts about events in the Smoky Mountain areas of Blount County (including Townsend) and Sevier County (including Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and Gatlinburg). However, I am focusing on outdoor events that can be attended safely during these COVID days.

May – June Outdoor Events
Through June 7. DOLLYWOOD FLOWER AND FOOD FESTIVAL, Pigeon Forge. Explore larger-than-life blooming sculptures, dance under a picturesque Umbrella Sky, indulge in garden-fresh flavors, and enjoy all-new indoor and outdoor entertainment. https://www.dollywood.com/themepark/Festivals
May 7 – 8. LITTLE RIVER RAILROAD DAYS, Townsend. Little River Railroad and Lumber Company preserves the heritage of the Little River Lumber Company and the Little River Railroad. The museum in Townsend collects, preserves, and exhibits the history of these companies and of the people in this region. https://littleriverrailroad.org/
May 7 – 8. TOWNSEND SPRING HERITAGE & BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL, Townsend Visitor Center. The spring Festival features bluegrass and mountain music, arts and crafts booths, wildflower walks, demonstrations of Appalachian skills, traditional food including BBQ, ice cream, and cast-iron cooking. https://www.smokymountains.org/what-to-see/spring
May 13 – 15. GRAND NATIONAL F-100 SHOW, Pigeon Forge. The largest classic Ford pickup truck event in the world, is open to classic Ford trucks, 1996 and older. Truckers will exhibit their trucks both inside and outside LeConte Center at Pigeon Forge. Vendors for classic Ford Trucks will have parts for sale, and the Ford Truck Swap Meet will also take place outside the event center. https://gnf100show.com/
May 15 – 16. 2021 SMOKY MOUNTAIN SCOTTISH FESTIVAL AND GAMES, Maryville College. East Tennessee’s premier celebration of Scottish culture and history. Originally founded in 1981 as the Gatlinburg Scottish Festival and Games, this festival is one of the oldest Scottish Festivals in the country. Discover and appreciate the rich traditions and history of the Scottish and Scots-Irish settlers of East Tennessee. https://smokymountaingames.org/about/
May 21 – 31. OBER GATLINBURG MAYFEST. MayFest is a traditional German celebration of the arrival of spring with displays of history, culture, and the traditional Maypole dance. Visitors to Ober Gatlinburg will enjoy the Biergarten and demonstrations by artists from the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community. For a challenge, participate in Ober’s grueling Uphill 5k on May 22, benefitting the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains. https://obergatlinburg.com/event/mayfest-2021/
May 22. SMOKY MOUNTAIN BIGFOOT FESTIVAL, Townsend. This first-ever event will feature Bigfoot competitions and oral history, live music, vendors, and food trucks. https://www.facebook.com/thebigfest

June 5 – 6. SMALLMOUTH KING BASS FISHING TOURNAMENT. Sevierville. Anglers will test their skills on Sevierville’s world-class bass waters in the area’s annual smallmouth bass only, catch-photograph-release event.
